Between Horses and Humans (BHH) is a non-profit organization teaching leadership through horsemanship to children dealing with difficult life situations and personal challenges. Our program builds leadership and communication skills, and assists participants with social, personal and emotional issues. All activities are offered free to participants. Through the support of our generous donors we ensure no child is excluded. Every amount donated is used exclusively to operate the program.
All donations are welcome and no donation is too small! To contribute to changing lives and healing hearts, please donate below

Letter of Thanks to BHH
Between Horses and Humans has compelled our daughter Jessica to stretch herself. Some of the numerous opportunities have been learning equine basics and responsibility, when she first started, onto horse anatomy, reflexology, nutrition, bathing, and growing through leadership opportunities in the summer courses and now at ToastMasters.
Between Horses and Humans has been an intergal piece of Jessica’s education. We are so EXTREMELY GRATEFUL that she has been mentored by Barbara. The program is truly a blessing in Jessica’s life and we hope that many other children are blessed to be a part of Between Horses and Humans!

Testimonial from Sophia and Luci's Mom
My girls are new to the program, starting just this last fall. They love going to see Tru and working with him, it is the highlight of their week! They are learning and working on how to communicate with each other, which has been wonderful to watch and is now overflowing into their daily interactions. Luci is finding her own voice and expressing herself. Sophia is learning to slow down and allow others to have their own experiences.
I am beyond grateful that such an Amazing program is available in our community; being a single parent of 4 kids I would not be able to afford this program if I had to pay out of pocket. A deeply heartfelt thank you to those that donate (time and money) to keep this program going; my children's mental and emotional health is on a healing and healthy path all thanks to Between Horses and Humans!
BHH Testimonial of a Life Changed
My name is Kristy and I have a 9 year old daughter in the program. Her name is Kaylin. When Kaylin was 4, she tragically lost her grandpa in a head on motorcycle accident. She was very close to him, they were best friends. After that she latched on to my brother, her uncle for a Male figure in her life.
Their personalities were so much alike. I remember my brother watching her play and asking, "Does she ever run out of energy?" They adored each other. Two years ago when Kaylin was 7 my brother committed suicide. It absolutely crushed her. Her life just drained out of her. She became withdrawn, had nightmares, wouldn't make friends, started having anxiety issues especially about death and loss.
She soon became too scared to let me leave her side, as well as her grandmother. She became mean and pushed everyone away from her. During her counseling session her counselor recommended BHH and I jumped on the opportunity. She was on a wait list for I think about 5 months and started in the late fall a couple months before her birthday. This fall will be two years in the program.
I have seen such a huge change in my little girl. The program has been such a big help in teaching her how to overcome loss, form healthy relationships, deal with her anger and acceptance. She also loves public speaking which was started by BHH at their annual fundraiser. She even stood up at my wedding and made a toast and speech to myself and her new dad, who she has also become so close to (sometimes I think they are closer than me and her are haha!) Her dream when she grows up is to be president of BHH!
I am so thankful for this program and everything they have done to help my little girl overcome what has happened to her. Let's face it, even as adults we don't know how to handle death and suicide and within a couple years a very small child lost the 2 men she was closest to, so of course she wouldn't know how to handle it. BHH has taught her so much. She loves working with the horses and loves sharing her feelings with them. We will always be thankful.
